Baron Soyes Brigade in 6mm

It has been quite a while since I touched any 6mm Napoleonics, the house move interfered with the 100 Days Campaign project and then general laziness took over. The brigades take quite a while to finish, so I was loathe to start up again and cracked on with other easier figures and projects.  However, last week I started the next base for the French II Corps, namely 2nd Brigade, of 6th Division, commanded by Baron Soye. This formation consisted of 1st and 2nd Ligne. For Blücher , this formation is also overstrength , hence the five battalions. This was partly because the parent unit, the 6th Infantry Division, was commanded by Napoleons brother, Prince Jérôme Bonaparte. Also a screen of skirmishers out front adds to the strength of this particular Brigade.During the Battle of Waterloo, the 6th Division was engaged at Hougoumont where it opened the battle with a supposed diversionary attack on the farm. The struggle lasted all day! Just to add to all this firepower, the brigade als...

Baron Hussons 1st Brigade 5th Division in 6mm

In recent days I turned my attention from the First World War and back another hundred years to the ongoing 6mm Waterloo project. I made a start on the French II Corps, a daunting task in itself, but I began with Baron Hussons 1st Brigade of the the 5th Division. The Cent Jours website tells me 1st Brigade comprises of 2nd Light and 61st Line regiments. However, Mark Adkins Waterloo Companion goes further saying that the 2nd Light were transferred on the 10th of June to 6th Division and were replaced by the 3rd Line Regiment.  Taking my pick, I went with the 2nd Light being part of the unit as it meant that I could paint half of the figures in blue trousers. This was another standard French infantry unit, the division fought at Quatre-Bras and lost about 1,500 men. 5th Division was a veteran unit which had fought in Germany and Russia. They formed part of the right hand flank of the French army during Waterloo, west of the Charleroi Road. Some of the division tried to advance again...

Belgian Buildings in 6mm

Back at Vapnartak one of my purchases was some of Baccus 6mm buildings from their Napoleonic range. I bought the village set, which included four buildings at a cheaper price than if they were bought separately, so they are a good bargain. In recent days I have been able to paint three of them. The reason the fourth building is still unpainted is because, in Blücher built up areas are designated by a square that is slightly bigger than a base width by a base width in size and I havent got enough buildings to cover the base at the moment, so it can wait until I buy more. In my case, my brigade base widths are 3.5 inch, so these building bases are just slightly bigger than that so that units can be accommodated easily. The village set consists of a barn, a small cottage and a church with a graveyard (plus the bigger as yet unpainted Manor House). They all come on their own base, so I used these to hold the buildings in place on the base but to also make them removable. With the base o...

Baron Campis 2nd Brigade 5th Infantry Division in 6mm

The second brigade of Bachelus 5th Division of Napoleons army was commanded by Baron Campi and was formed of the 72nd Ligne and 108th Ligne Regiments. Like the first brigade, this was a pretty standard French infantry unit. However, they saw action both at Quatre-Bras and later at Waterloo, being involved in the fighting at Hougoumont. Baron Campi was also wounded during the campaign along with four of his battalion officers, showing the amount of action they were involved in. This is the second of eight infantry brigades for II Corps (less than I thought!), so its a quarter of the way through the infantry already! Things have slowed down a little with the painting, I was busy most of last week at the Western Front Associations York conference, but I am trying to get as much done as I can before we move house and everything is put on hold for a while! Thanks for reading!

Battlefield 3 Class Guide – Guide To The Classes In BF3!

One of the most important parts of Battlefield 3 is knowing about the classes in the game. If you want to play BF3 well and win lots then you need to know what each class is good at doing, and how to use them properly. Battlefield 3 Class Guide There are 4 classes in Battlefield 3.
